Increasing Protective Factors by Engaging Families of Youth with Risk Factors
“Risk factors” are any circumstances that may increase youths’ likelihood of engaging in risky behaviors. Conversely, “protective factors” are any circumstances that promote healthy youth behaviors and decrease the chance that youth will engage in risky behaviors. In this panel presentation, presenters from Kansas, Colorado and Texas will share how their states, districts and programs are working to mitigate the effects of risk factors on students and families.
